I find it hard to relate to people who are only familiar with Dragon Ball Z through the FUNimation English dub. Many voices are of a completely different style from the Japanese, the beautiful background music that was simply there for effect was replaced by blaring rock music that does not let up. The script was heavily rewritten so that characters would spout out terrible jokes and one-liners, and most importantly, the voice acting is forced as hell (and remained that way up through GT until Dragon Ball Z Kai came around). Frankly, the English version is a completely different product, one you shouldn't genuinely like. It doesn't stand the test of time. Even the video aesthetics are entirely different from the Japanese releases. Toei presented the show in 4:3, the format it was animated in, while cleaning up the footage to make it look better. It was a respectable release that celebrated DBZ's age. The people at FUNimation, on the other hand, are embarrassed that the show is over twenty years old and want to continue on presenting it as the latest hotness. FUNimation's remasters consist of widescreen cropping, oversaturated colors and heavy use of DVNR. They remove all the grain, and in turn, most of the detail in the visuals. It even looks like crap.

'90s cartoons were like animated sitcoms. They weren't afraid to tell a story. Modern cartoons are like a thirty minute fart joke.

That was a joke, by the way. I forgot that there's no such thing as freedom of speech anymore. My bad.

FUNimation is once again cropping DBZ for the new Blu-Ray release. God. Fucking. Dammit. I've never wanted to beat the shit out of North American DBZ fans as much as I want to now. This release must be based on the results of the survey put out a few months back. Basically, the fans are so fucking stupid that they're RUINING THE RELEASES. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK! I'LL KILL YOU! I'LL KILL YOU ALL!

So, today I weighed in at 248 lbs. I really need to do something about my weight.
